October 27 ~ Home Again

Stormy walked slowly through the orchard across from the park. She took purposeful steps, forcing each one. She counted out her heart beats to distract herself. She had made an oath, and she had ignored it for far too long. They all had. It was time to honor their friend, and each other.
Step by faltering step she made her way forward. With a grim determination she walked faster and faster, an easy jog, focused running, and then sprinting toward the temple doors. She skidded to a stop just short of the gate and catapulted herself gracefully over the fence, landing with gentle ease on the cobblestones beyond. Her heart was racing hummingbird fast. She had not been so near the temple since that day. Part of her wanted to turn and run the other way.   The world seemed to fade away as memories of that horrible day washed over her…

There had been an unnatural storm that night. Dark oppressive clouds and ferocious winds that foretold of evil to come loomed around them. They didn’t ignore the warning, though nothing could have prepared them for what was about to happen. They gathered in the park waiting for everyone to join them as agreed. An hour passed, then two. But where was Jesse? He should be back by now. The investigation wouldn’t have taken that long. It had been two days. He should be back. With the storm growing ever more murderous they decided they could wait no longer. They went with great haste to the hall they used as their temple. Stormy smelled the blood as they got closer. She could taste it in her mouth. She knew something was horribly wrong. She listened for the sound of a heartbeat, and finding none she threw open the door. What she saw, what they all saw, would change them forever.
Jesse’s body was lying on the floor, splayed out amongst the tell tale chalk markings. His investigation had been discovered by the Crimson, and their justice had been carried out immediately. They were evil. Black to the core, they took great pride in the killings they committed.  This one was an exceptional treat for them, and they made sure to send their message. Jesse’s body had been torn apart. Pieces of him were everywhere.  Shanti screamed when she realized what she was seeing, and thought they tried to stop her, Cocoa ran straight to him.  She grabbed him and held his desecrated body to her chest, her anguish pouring forth with such devastation that no one could breathe for what seemed like an eternity.
Jacob finally found his feet and, rousting the others from their shock went to Cocoa and pried her, screaming and clawing like a woman possessed away from the lifeless body. Stormy was bleeding from her hands and mouth where her nails and teeth dug in to keep herself from crying out. She took Shanti and Cocoa into the prayer room. She knew they were not strong enough for what came next. With delicate and deliberate care, Jacob, Christian, Robbie and Frisco gathered up the remains of their lost brother. They placed him on a silken cloth and carried him silently to the graveyard mere yards away. There they buried him, and asked Luna to guide him safely to his new existence. They were the only family he had. Only they would be left to mourn this loss. They cleaned up what they could, and when the pain became too great they walked away, silently in 7 different directions.

Then gentle cooing of mourning doves slowly brought her back to the present. Shaking the cobwebs off, she set her jaw resolutely and walked toward the door.
This is my reworked Luna Elite introduction. I hope this is a good rewrite for those of you who read it, and that I can get more done on it without too much block!

Thanks ya'll for looking!
